Engaging Art: The Contest Ground Art Installation by Stephanie Brown.

The Contested Ground art installation is a subverted play on the healthcare experiences of Black women living in Georgia. Contested Ground is an invitation to reimagine medical spaces as inviting and comfortable rather than traumatic and unsettling.

Now open at the Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library through August 2025.

Developing an Archive

Historically, Black women’s stories have been missing from the archive. In response to this silence, The Say Study seeks to center the voices and experiences of Black women to build an archive. The archive will include transcripts of interviews, video and audio recordings, and aggregated quantitative data collected through study surveys. This project will culminate with an exhibition.
